Scorpio is a pet that you can never hold in your hand, caress and love . He will not learn to recognize you or interact with you, but you can observe him for hours. (For those who love it of course). Scorpions are either forest species or desert species. Knowing which type of scorpion you have is very important, as habitat and care are different for the two types. For starters, the Association of Amateur Entomologists recommends large, forest species such as emperor scorpions (Pandinus imperator), Thai land scorpions (Heterometrus spinifer), and Javanese forest scorpions (H. javanensis).

Appropriate Aquarium Preparation for Your Scorpion

Place a 5-10 cm substrate on the bottom of the aquarium. For desert types, use clean, chemical-free sand. For forest species, use a finely ground organic substrate covered with a thin layer of coarse bark. Organic substrates should be moist. Spray a fine spray of water until wet.

Add a flat rock or ceramic ornament to give your scorpion a place to hide. No other ornaments are necessary for the scorpion, but they can add to your enjoyment.

Place a shallow bowl of water in one corner of the aquarium and keep it filled for forest species. Remove the bowl with tongs and wash it thoroughly with soap and water every few days. For desert species, put a damp piece of natural sponge in the corner of the aquarium. Some species can get all the moisture they need from the air, but if you're unsure about your scorpion, it's best to give it a sponge.

Place the scorpion in the container inside the aquarium and close the aquarium lid tightly. Secure the cover with the aquarium cover clips. Use tongs to move the scorpion into the environment. For scorpions living in forest habitats, moisten the substrate daily. Desert habitats rarely need moisture.

How is it fed?

Scorpions eat smaller live insects and arthropods in the wild, so you need to buy crickets or cockroaches to feed them well.

Adult scorpions require about three to five small live crickets or fewer large insects per week. If you notice that the scorpion is not interested in its food, it could be a sign that it is full or sick, so try feeding it again after a few days and see how the scorpion reacts. Remember that uneaten food can indicate disease or unsuitable habitats, so consult your specialist.
